Warning!!!!! Because Havanese are so wonderful, it was inevitable that unscrupulous, uneducated, opportunistic people would attempt to cash in on their growing popularity and try and pass off mixed-breed puppies as purebred Havanese. Don't be fooled! Insist on AKC registrations (as well as good pedigrees, health testing, etc.)

So you want a dog that doesn't shed, that is small but friendly, likes children as well as adults, is smart, playful, and sturdy. A dog that one minute is fetching a toy for you to throw, the next minute jumping up into your lap to be petted. A dog you can often find sleeping on the back of the couch, dancing on their hind legs, and acting like velcro - generally never leaving your side. You want a dog with beautiful soft "hair" that comes in a variety of colors, a dog that has a distinct prance-like gait. A dog that will charm everyone they meet -

you want a HAVANESE!!!

This is an email I received from a Riley's owner, was so eloquent in capturing the essence of a Havanese:

"It is hard to believe but riley is nearly 6 months old now (and scheduled to get fixed on June 21). Thought you would enjoy the picture below of this very happy little boy and a report on his very good progress in life.

He is now in "Intermediate" training having passed puppy training class at Pet Smart (he celebrated by peeing on their pole). He is now in his Terrible Teens and can no longer hear a word i say -- nevertheless, he is the Ambassador of Smiles and Giggles in our development. He thinks his name is, "oh-you're-so-cute." He has a very busy social life -- walks take a long time because he has so many friends along the way. He runs and hops and wiggles his way up to everyone, does a nice sit as i trained him to do, and then rolls over on his back and wiggles for a belly rub (as he did the first time i met him -- he is consistent!). He makes everyone smile and laugh at his silliness. Old people forget they can't bend over because his belly MUST be rubbed and so they bend down to talk silly to him. Everyone walks away happy after their encounter with Riley. People stop their cars and roll down their windows to call out a "hi," not to me, but to Riley."

Havanese are addictive. A new affliction, certainly soon to be recognized by the AMA as "I Hav'ta Hav Another Hav", will infect you once you own a Havanese. Don't say I didn't warn you! (I am sooo addicted...)

"Stella" - Sun City's Stelladorable

"Franny" is a very graceful, elegant dog imported from Hungary with gorgeous silky hair.

Murphy is a bundle of fun. He is truly a dog that "can't hold his licker." He is gentle and sweet. Murphy is an offspring of Hungarian dogs.

Pinta is indeed "pint-size" and is Miss Congeniality with the other dogs, always playing with everyone.

Toby, the "leader of the pack", tries to act macho, but is actually a big baby at heart.

Rory was born in Budapest, Hungary. She has an FCI registration, and alsp an AKC registration here in the USA.

Hobo & Honey were also born in Budapest, Hungary, have FCI registrations with multiple champion pedigrees, and have since obtained their AKC registrations.

Hobo, like Murphy, is easy-going, gentle, but fun-loving. He just wants to love and be loved. Hobo is tri-color with sable tipping - just gorgeous.

Honey is a little "lovebug" who loves to be petted. As she has grown, her fur has really become the color of honey.
